Bluecoat Display Centre 50th Anniversary Series at Various Venues As part of this year’s 50-year anniversary celebration of the Bluecoat Display Centre, some of Liverpool’s most innovative artists will create installations in the Philharmonic Hall, University of Liverpool’s School of History, the Roald Dahl Blood Centre at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. We are delighted to launch the first in this series with Liverpool Art Prize People’s Choice winner, Elizabeth Willow.

Helen Chatterton: Floral Lawn Collection 13 June – 1 August 2009
A new summer collection of textiles by Liverpool based designer Helen Chatterton to complement the recycling themed exhibition Junkshop Revolution. The floral lawn range which includes Tana lawn cotton dupion silk backed cushions & scarves, covered buttons and lavender bags was inspired by a collection of fabric which belonged to Helen’s mother.

Magdalene Odundo Solo - The Elisabeth Zuckerman memorial exhibition 3 October – 28 November 2009
Magdalene showed her hand built and coiled ceramics in 1985, very early in her career, at the Bluecoat Display Centre and is now an internationally renowned artist who last year won the African Art Recognition Award. In this major new exhibition Magdalene will show her renowned ceramics alongside new forms in metal seen for the first time in exhibition in the UK.

The title FIS meaning "Vision" allows an open approach to the personal vision of the artist. The chosen artists all adopt a sensitive approach to their work. The majority of the aritsts are living in rural communities which creates an atmosphere of quiet contemplation. While three of the artists Una Sealy and David Quinn and Emma Berkery live in urban environments they each approach their subject matter from an outside perspective.

Bernie Lubell - A Theory of Entanglement 19 June – 6 September 2009
FACT will unveil a major new commission by Lubell and bring together a series of his low-tech, lo-fi sculptures, powered entirely by the audience.
